Yo radiofanatic,
You should check out Roots Bamboo on Negril Beach. Goto www.negril.com and follow links for beach resorts. You'll pay about $30 per day for lodging and can eat very cheap in Negril if you do not need table cloths and candles. Jerk chicken from just about any roadside chef is excellent as are local pates and Roots does have an inexpensive restaurant.
Finding the cheapest flight will be your challenge during the months you mention.
Have fun.

Check out cheapcaribbean.com, you'll find many offers within your budget (be aware that taxes are not included and they might amount to $150/pp). For january look at "last minute" section.
Hoever, I've never used their services so I can't vouch for that, I'd actually love some input as they sound too good to be true.

Radio,
I just an email with Vacation Specials from BJ's. Do you have a BJ's Wholesale Club in your area? Evidently they have been running Discount Vacation Bookings that end November 20th. You do have to be a member ($30 annually), but that might prove okay if any of these are what you are looking for, and are actually available. Check it out, and good luck!

That is a very close budget. I would settle for 4 or 5 days and try the Punta Cana area in DR. Try applevacations.com I don't see anything right now, but try in Dec. Perhaps something will open up in the price range. Maybe save a few more $$$ by that time.

Look at Shangri La Caribe in Playa Del Carmen, great place, wonderful value, breakfast and dinner included. You fly into Cancun, which usually has pretty reasonable flights available. There are also many other reasonable places in PDC.

Few days back I saw some good deals to Bermuda on USA3000 airlines website. If you're looking for a warm and sunny place, I dont know if Bermuda is a good choice??? I read/heard from people that it isnt "great" at that time of the year(Jan-March). USA3000 also has inexpensive services to Cancun, Mexico. Check their website for more details. Cruise wouldnt be a bad option either. Cruises to the Caribbean seem to be incredibly low!!!
