If you have plans to head to the Carribean in the next week or so, keep an eye on Hurricane Francis. It is currently a Category IV and could stregnthen to become a Category V which is the worst level of hurricane.
You should monitor the hurricane sites since it seems to be heading toward the T&C or the Bahamas and the Southeast US coastline.

It sure looked like those of us in the northern Leewards were on her list as of yesterday, but she will pass north of us now. However, as wantsomesun said, there are still many that might be in her wake.
Be vigilant about monitoring if you are heading to areas mentioned. I certainily hope she gets steared out into the north Atlantic before doing any damage to the island or the US coast.

As of this evening the storm seems to be heading in the direction of the BAHAMAS and the SOUTHEAST US COASTLINE.
Emergency measures are starting to kick in in the Bahamas, and I just got an email that preparations are underway in expectation of the storm.
If you are planning on a trip to Florida or the Bahamas this week, you will need to keep posted on this storm.
Anyone interested there will be updates on the storm and if the storm hits the Bahamas there will be info posted on www.briland.com from locals with sat phones.
Lets hope Frances changes her mind and heads out to sea........

Those of us in the northern Leewards are now under tropical storm watch and plan to start getting weather from Frances tonight.
I certainly hope she takes a drastic turn toward the north in order to miss any other islands, as well as the US mainland.

you could try the message boards at www.briland.com
BahamasAir has canceled flights to/from Bahamas/Florida after 12 Noon Thursday 2 Sept; USAirways already allowing alterations in itineraries to the Bahamas.
My hotel in Nassau where I planned to spend the Labor Day weekend has just advised me NOT to come down due to increasing storm preparations.

No I am in NYC far away from the storm, but my heart is in the Bahamas. I got another email this morning that the Bahamas Governmnet has issued Hurricane Warnings for the Central Bahamas and a Hurricane Watch for the Northeast Bahamas.
Francis is now a Category IV storm and is expected to strengthen a bit, the winds are now at 120-145 mh which makes this a VERY dangerous storm.
There are people in the Bahamas that have sat phones who will be "phoning in" the conditions as the storm gets closer. Those postings will be on www.briland.com.
If I have any information about the storm I will post it here.
Please say a little prayer for the people in the path of the storm. It could also be a very strong storm as it hits the US mainland in Florida or along Georgia or South Carolina.
