Hotel suggestion-First timer

Looking for a hotel, condado or ocean parka rea, near a Useable beach or on one, less than 150/night.

Any suggestions anyone can help me with, I would appreciate it.

I have read about Canarios, wind chimes, hotel iberia, hosteria del mar....but prefer word of mouth reviews.

The Canario by the Sea is less than 50 yards from the beach. Stayed there many years ago and it was adequate.

Drew try reading reviews on or These are somewhat dated, but can be helpful. On one hotel you will read it was fine, and then the next person says the same establishment was terrible. Even reviews can be confusing. Give it a try.

Hotels in Puerto Rico are a poor value. I went a couple of years ago and was very disappointed. You pay close to double for what you get, comparing to just about any other place I've been to in 21 countries. It has kept me from going back - for some reason, I can't enjoy myself when I feel I'm getting ripped off. For example. a hotel in Fajardo 1/2 mile from the water wanted $80 for what looked like a $40 room. Even the Paradors theh tourist board organizes are around $80 and nothing to rave about. Good luck. I just stayed at both Canario Sea and Canario Lagoon before and after my cruise. They were great. I did a lot of research and although reviews I found were mixed, they were old so I took my chances. I booked on canariohotels web and saved $5 so that helped. Cheap $70-$75 compared to others. Both were perfect clean and comfy. Staff was nice. Free breakfast was a bonus. I'd stay again.
