Help! Westin St. John Question!

Thank you in advance for any help! I have used this board for all of my trips and I need some help! (= My sister is spending her honeymoon at the Westin in St. John and I have read the beach is not very nice. I wanted to surprise her with a gift of maybe a day tour certificate to snorkeling at a different area. Where would you suggest? and is the main tour people at the hotel reputable? Thanks for all of your help! I am not familiar with the hotel but any other suggestions for a gift to some of their other amenties are welcome as well!

There are tour operators at the Westin who book trips to Jost Van Dyke, the Baths at Virgin Gorda, and other day trips... we used them for the day trip to Virgin Gorda and Norman Island and it was a great time.....if you opt not to go down that path, a good bottle of champagne and a fruit plate might be a pleasant surprise for them to arrive to...

Mike,
Thanks for your help! May I ask if one of the two day trips you mentioned was a snorkeling trip? Do you know around how much the trip cost? Thanks for all of your help and great idea about the champ./fruit! (=

tjcm,
Thanks for the website and the information. They look like they do 1/2 day snorkeling trips. If you don't mind:

1.Where is the best snorkeling on St. John?
2. Is the snorkeling trip at the Westin a good trip (based on time snorkeling and sites to see)?

Thanks again for all of your help. I am hoping to buy them a trip for their visit but I want to make sure it is a nice vacation! Thanks!

I believe the trip to the Baths on Virgin Gorda and the Caves on Norman Island ( a full day trip) was a little over $100 per person, but my memory could be a little faulty. There is snorkeling at both places. (They will need proof of US citizenship)

Since I gather that your sister is not planning to rent a car, taxi service will likely limit them to the North Shore beaches... Trunk, Cinnamon, Francis, Hawksnest are all good snorkeling locations... Waterlemon is by all accounts super but taxis down that way may be hard to come by....
