has anyone stayed at the ocean club resorts in turks and caicos

I need some information about this resort. Is it nice? How is the food? Are there other restaurants nearby (walking distance?) is the casino in walking distance?

I stayed there about 3 years ago and it was very nice! It is on a beautiful beach and I would recommend it and have recommended it to others. I will stay there again when I go. They were building a new addition down the beach from the original that looked nice also.

Nice resort, the Ocean Club West sister resort is newer and nicer. BUT close to club Med..can get loud. Didn't eat there. Many restaurants near by, Anacaona at the Grace Bay Club, Hemmingways and the Sands, Grace's Cottage at Point Grace, Bay Bistro at Sibonne. Casino is at the Allegro which is walking distance from OC.

The above post is a little misleading. Ocean Club West is the newer resort and is between Allegro and Grace Bay Club. Ocean Club is next to Club Med. Stayed at Ocean Club once and is can get noisy. There are only two buildings beachfront at Ocean Club the rest are built back on the property so marginal beach/ocean views. Ocean Club West is built is the shape of a U so there is a better chance of a good view. Ports of Call shopping plaza is within walking distance of OC West. There are three realtively inexpensive restaurants there--Barefoot Cafe, Latitudes and Calico Jacks. Good combo at Barefoot Cafe on Fridays

We stayed at the Accra resort in Barbados and absolutely loved it. It is right on the beach and the entrance was guarded by security guards so only those staying at the resort could enter the pool area.

I am an early riser so I would get up around 7am, go across the street and buy a delicious pastry and a frozen coffee drink and sit under a palm try by the pool staring out at the ocean.

We both agreed that it was much more romantic than our honeymoon in Ireland, although we loved Ireland.

St. Lawrence Gap is loaded with restaurants and pubs and was a quick drive in a white minibus which only cost a dollar each way. And the night was so gorgeous we actually walked home from the gap.

Have fun!

Accra hotel has no lounge chairs on the beach, although the beach is quite nice and you can hire a chair from a vendor. The hotel is decent but not great -- they messed up our reservation so we had to start off in a noisy room overlooking the parking lot and then switch rooms during our stay, and all they did to compensate us was to give us coupons for one breakfast at the buffet (mediocre food at best).

My husband and I loved Ocean Club! After seeing their beach on the cover of Caribbean Travel and Life, and a little research, we were on our way.
We stayed in a Junior Suite (ask for 2nd floor!) at the original Ocean Club 2 years ago and loved it! It was perfect for us-we did the Escape to Paradise Package which included a car for 2 days, a few meals, and some other amenities I can't recall. Having the car for just 2 days worked well for us. I couldn't get enough of that gorgeous beach but we did leave it long enough to do some diving and sailing. The car was nice for exploring the island, picking up a few munchies (all of the accommodations have very nice and well equipped kitchennettes!), a little shopping (you can't do alot of shopping on Provo!), and trying some of the other restaraunts. Sharkbite was our favorite-great atmosphere!
In my opinion you can't go too wrong with Grace Bay, it's truly one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. That said, we were very happy with Ocean Club and will definitely return. One thing we liked was it's location on the beach-there's no development (yet!) on the north side so you have a beautiful expanse of beach to enjoy.
There isn't much within walking distance-for most people. There is a golf course across the street and the casino would, in my opinion be walkable. The resort does run a shuttle to Ocean Club West as well as a shopping and dining shuttle a couple times a day.
Their food was great, the service was great and by the way, I'm a travel agent and would be happy to send you a brochure. They have old rates but the pictures will give you an accurate depiction of the property. Hope this helps!
I didn't notice a problem with noise and we're pretty picky about that-but we were there over Thanksgiving. Actually it seems to me that Ocean Club West might have a tendency to be noisier due to it's location. Club Med is next to the original Ocean Club and we didn't experience any problems with noise.
