Has anyone stayed at Cinnamon Reef on Anguilla?
We are thinking about a XMAS trip to Anguilla. One of the possibilities is Cinnamon Reef. Could anyone who has stayed there tell me what you thought of the beach? Some reviews that praise the resort say that the beach is not so great and the water is cloudy, but you wouldn't know that from the photos at the hotel web-site.

Have stayed there 5 times. The beach is great for sunbathing/reading as it actually has some trees on it & the water is fine for swimming & very good for water sports (wind surfing is especially nice there as the reef really protects the harbor). I have never seen the water cloudy (love to sit on the little deck outside the bar & watch the fish darting about down below). It is NOT a walking beach (too small) but there's a beautiful pool & the views from the villas & the restaurant are, I think, the best on the whole island. We go to Rendezvous, Meads & Shoal Bay East when we want to stroll & stay put in front of our villa when we want to chill out. We love the resort's privacy & non-hotel feel.

The beach is NOT so great. There are many others that are. The biggest problem we found was lack of a/c. Even though we were there in February and prefer ceiling fans, the lack of cross ventilation created unconfortable sleeping. We really needed something to cool off the room.

This hotel, which ios officially called (I think) "The Enclave (at Cinnamon Reef)" is one of the many that we checked out when we were in Anguilla this summer. The hotel looked great - I think it's been recently renovated. The beach did not, I can certainly believe it's man-made. More like a marina, really. So if a beach is important to you, I wouldn't stay there - there are many, many amazing beaches in Anguilla to choose from!
