Has anyone booked a trip w/ Air Jamaica?

Recently Hubby and I booked a trip with them to the Ritz Carlton in Montego Bay. We are to leave July 1 at 8am (which is in 2 days). I just called the Ritz Carlton to make Spa/Golf reservations and they DO NOT have our reservations?????? I have my plane and hotel vouchers with me but they have nothing under names in their computer.

I have spoken to Air Jamaica and they are telling us that they book a block of room and don't summit our names until a few days before arrival (UMMM I leave in 1 1/2 days!!!)

Should I worry????

Yes you should get confirmation that you have a room.

Sorry to hear but this is a MAJOR reason to use a travel agent.

We did go through a travel agent! She booked us through Air Jamaica!

I am not worried that I will not get a compensation-I am worried that our trip might be ruined!

I have booked several times through Air Jamaica, as have many friends, and I have never heard of a problem with not having a reservation. You should be able to get an Air Jamaica rep to help you more though - I would call back and insist that they do something to assuage your fears.

Many large travel companies (such as Air Jamaica, etc) have allotments for rooms with their contracted hotels, and it is quite common (the norm, really) to do exactly as you have said. When you spoke to the hotel, did you explain that you were on an Air Jamaica Vacation? The hotel would then have probably told you the same thing: that they hadn't yet received the manifest for the date you were to arrive.

It shouldn't be a problem.

It sounds like the hotel didn't know it was booked through a wholesaler (AJ Vacations). Normally, wholesalers fax over their passenger manifest 3-5 days prior to your arrival. Let's say worst case scenario: if you arrive and hand over your hotel voucher and the hotel still doesn't have your name in their computer, have them contact your travel agent who will contact AJ Vacations. AJ Vacations will contact the hotel to clear up the confusion.
