Grenada and Tobago restaurants
My Husband to be (!) and I are heading to Grenada and Tobago for our honeymoon in 3 weeks (can't wait!). We are staying all inclusive but would still like to treat ourselves to one special meal outside our hotel on each island. We are both 'foodies' so it would have to be excellent food, quiet and relaxed (but not too stuffy), right on the beach, friendly service. Basically the best restaurant on each island! Any ideas??

The Cliffs in Barbados is what I consider good, just to give you an idea of what we like.

Many thanks

Angela

I've never been to Grenada, but I've been to Tobago five times. We never go all-inclusive, so we've eaten out a lot.
Tobago is a small island, with a total population of about 45,000, and it gets far fewer tourists than Barbados. So you will not find the same range of restaurants in Tobago, which I love because it's quiet, peaceful, friendly, and not overrun with tourists.
My two favorite restaurants are the Shirvan Mill and the Seahorse Inn. The Shirvan Mill is not on a beach; it's on the site of an old sugar mill and still has some of the original stone work. It is very romantic; the lighting is beautiful; and there's a fish pond filled with koi. The food is great. It has a roof but no walls.
The Seahorse is on the beach, but you don't really get a view, although you can hear the surf. The best tables are in the courtyard. If you do a google search for "seahorse restaurant Tobago," you'll find that the menu is posted on the website. It could also be Sea Horse restaurant with a space between sea and horse, but I don't think so.
There are hotels with restaurants on the beach, but few have food as good as the places I've mentioned.
Where are you staying on Tobago?

While in Grenada, definitely go to the restaurant at Laluna - Sicilian chef, Italian-Seafood, excellent food & wine list, and gorgeous setting right on the beach! Take a look at their website to get a feel for it... you won't be disappointed.

Have fun!

Just got back from Trinidad/ Carinval and Tobago. I did the all inclusive at the Rex Turtle beach. The food was pretty good. It did get a little tiring after five days. I would definitely venture out. We had no time. We rented a jeep and learned to drive on the left side. The problem was you can't lock things up in a jeep. The hotel is very nice. Change rooms if you can't see the ocean clearly, some have trees in the way. No clocks, bring your own alarm or they will call you. People on the beach at this hotel will hassle you to buy things. Be very politely clear. Before my boyfriend knew what was happening this guy was rubbing aloe vera all over him and demanding money. He walked up to me later and I clearly put my hand up for him to back off.
I think the beach front had better offers to sites and snorkeling trips then the hotel. Check ti out. We should have went with "Tuna Man" to get to the sites quickly. These hotel tours are all about waiting for the bus to come(at least an hour late) going in a very crowded glass bottom boat to a dead coral site. Check out prices and details- your time is precious. The little Tobago trip is worth it. Go to Peter's presentation on certain nights at the hotel. The drive to the other side of the island is very long and a diffcult windy drive. Eat a very light breakfast.
Try Arnos Vale for snorkeling(water can be a little rough this time of year)and go see their birds at the 4:00pm feeding.
Enjoy Delores

Angela,
we had the best Caribbean lobster ever at Coconut Beach in Grenada. It's a real casual place, right on Grand Anse beach. We went for lunch and sat at a table right on the sand but they have inside dining also. The newburg is delicious and my husband had a dish called 'Ginger Boy' that was out of this world. Grenada has lots of good places to eat. Patrick's is a lot of fun for real local color and Grenadian dishes. Congratulations and enjoy your honeymoon.

My wife and I just returned from Grenada. The best meal we had was at the Beach House.....next door to the Rex. The mahi mahi was to die for, the caeser salad was the best I had found to that point, the serving of mud pie was huge. My wife took the rest back to our hotel for the next day.
