Getting sick in Punta Cana
I just booked at the Paradisus...and now I am afraid I am making a big mistake regarding getting sick to your stomache. Has anyone had any expereince with getting sick or not at the Paradisus. Lonely Planet really put them down. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.

This page is from the DR's travel consul site and contains everything you need to know; it's consistent with World Health Org standards:

Traveler's diarrhea is a relatively common problem, both in the DR and in many warm weather destinations. Some of it is due to infection, much of it is due to combination of unusual patterns of intake of alcohol, food, sun exposure, off kilter sleep cycles, stress of travel and the like.
Bring Pepto Bismol and Imodium with you(they cost more at the resorts).

Even if you are very careful about water and ice cubes, people sometimes forget about juices - these are often reconstituted with local water (not specifically in Punta Cana - just in general) - so things like orange juice, lemonade, may not be safe.
