Getting a deal for westin St john (not priceline)

I want to plan a February '06 stay at the Westin St John for two adults, four kids. Westin's site show $719 a nite. There are some deals that are only good for the summer or end of this year. I really don't want to wait until January to book my February trip.

I don't want to use priceline. Any suggestions? Thanks so much.

Hi Lisa, I don't know any deals for the Westin, but seems unlikely there would be any for the time of year you want to go. You're talking peak season at one of only two resort hotels on STJ. If it was off season, you might have a chance, but I think Westin & Caneel are booked solid at that time of year even with those seemingly expensive rates.

Good luck, but you might consider some of the other type accomodations on STJ - villa rental if you want to go in Feb for a better price.

Thanks so much, I could actually deal with $719 a nite, but with four kids, they require us to take two rooms. That just isn't worth it when no food is included! I don't hear perfect reviews about this place.

The reason I wanted this resort is for all of the kid activities. We usually do laid-back nature/adventure vacations, but thought it would be fun for the kids to experience a resort. I just want some place warm, safe with low health-risks (have had my share of kids getting very sick b/c of vacations).

Thanks for the response!

If you go to the Starwoods resorts site, they will offer you free membership. As a Starwood member, you will be able to get great deals at the Westin. The Westin also rents out its own private villas which are up the hill from the rest of the resort but they have these super-sized golf cart things that run all over the resort giving people rides. The villas are considered part of the resort so you will be able to take advantage of all of the resort activities. Also, Travelocity often has deals for the Westin but again, since it is high season, you will have a hard time scoring a deal other than through Starwood. Look at the Westin site again, I think they have something on their villas which have 2 and 3 bedrooms and some even have a small private pool. With the kitchenette, you will be able to save on breakfasts, and some lunches and dinners if you choose.

I'm a Starwood member but during peak season there doesn't seem to be any breaks. You can try but it didn't work for me using Starwood number. One thing you could try is to look into a Starwood Amex credit card and see if that can translate into a discount there or with Starwood.
