First Timer, Choosing A Villa... Help!

Hello everyone,

We will be in St. John at the end of October/beginning of November. It's our first time. We're trying to decide how to pick a villa. Here are our only real requirements:

1) great view
2) pool

Yeah, that's it. I'm not sure if we'd need AC then (can someone please advise?).

Here are the available villas I've seen that our in our price range (no more than 2500):

Hawksbill
Casa YaYa
Bay House
One Particular Harbour
Bluerock
Blue Skies
Frank Bay House
Summer Wind
Dolphin Run
Kabej Patch
Gibney Beach Cottage
In Harmony Retreat
Mayan Sky
Daffodil
Long View

OK, I realize there are a gazillion choices here... which is why it's making it so difficult to pick one! Everything looks great. Thanks for any help you can give to us!

We were just there and rented the villa “Andante by the Sea” (www.andantebythesea.com), which seems to fit your requirements. Check out my pictures and trip report on fodors at this link:

Only thing is they might be booked then. Will you be there THIS Oct/Nov or in 08? I think you might have problems finding anything not booked if it’s this year. Good luck!

That's good news! In that case, if they all look good, I'd go by whichever one you like best, or is least expensive. Also, if sunrises/sunsets are important to you, see where the villa is located to decide. We were closer to Cruz Bay which was nice, as it was a quick 5 minute ride to all of the shops and restaurants, and about a 15 minute drive to the north shore beaches. Coral Bay is also very nice, but it will be about a 25-30 minute drive for you to get to the shops.

I've ALWAYS wanted to stay in the Gibney Beach cottage. Unbeatable location... Close to cruz bay.
