Dorado or Rincon
OK. We've narrowed our choices down to two. Rincon of the Seas or Hyatt Dorado. There doesn't seem to be mush posted about Rincon of the Seas. Can anyone compare the two for me including their beaches? I'm a little concerned about construction around the hyatt, but lean to it because my Husband loves to gamble. Rincon of the Seas seems like it might be cleaner because its newer, but they don't seem to have all the amenities. Any advice and comments are greatly appreciated.

Hyatt and Rincon are very different. Hyatt use to be two hotels, they closed one of them Hyatt Cerromar, (the one with the big casino). Hyatt Dorado Beach is very quite, extremely, the beach is nic, it has a wall of rocks, so there are no waves. You have to walk a lot becuase the rooms are in villas. They offer transportation to Hyatt Cerromar, becuase guests can use the river pool, which is great and lots of fun!! Dorado is near the city- only 30 min, the town is big and has lots of restaurants, stores, just like in the states.
Rincon is very nice and new, the beach is nice. The hotel is small, only one restaurant, very pretty, but not the tipical big resort. Rincón is 3 hours from San Juan, the town is very small. You can drive to the Mayaguez Hilton which has a big Casino and is only 20 minutes from Rincon. Also in Mayaguez you haev lost of restaurants and malls.
Its a matter of taste, Dorado is an old resort, very nce and big and Rincon is a mini resort, nice adn quite also very far away from the San Juan.
If your husband loves casinos, there are lots of hotels in San Juan which are great like El San Juan Hotel and Casino, Condado Plaza, Caribe Hilton (great Spa). The most wonderful and beautiful is El Conquistador Hotel and Casino located in Fajardo. This is the Cadillac of the Resorts in Puerto Rico. It has a private beach a boat takes you there, the water is cristal and the hotel is breathtaking. The casino is very good.
Good luck- by the way I am from Perto Rico and is lovely down here, but be careful there is some danger with meningitis.

Thanks for the reply. We are headed for Mayaguez to visit family the last couple of days we are there. That's why
we were kinda headed in that direction. One thing I was a little worried about was construction at the Dorado Hyatt. Do you know if the Casino is still available to use. I read on some posts last night that the South Coast Beaches are nicer than the ones on the NorthWest side. Is that true?

I just returned from PR on Sunday. We always stay in Mayaguez with family, so I'm not very familiar with the San Juan area, but it just so happens that we attended a wedding at Rincon of the Seas while we were there. It was nice, with a nice pool - seemed to be a lot of families staying there. We went to the beach there one day and I thought it was ok, but there are definitely better in the area. From what I understand, the beaches are better overall on the west side. The best beaches that we went to were Crashboat, which is in Aguadilla, maybe 20 minutes from Rincon. And Jobos, which is near the airport in Aguadilla. Another really cool one that we went to was called Manglillo, it's out in Guanica, which was about an hour from Mayguez. It was beautiful - mangroves growing out of the water, it was really cool. Have fun!!
