My husband and I would like to travel to Grenada. I have many limitations, can't walk very far, limited energy, low tolerance for noise. He is very very active. What would anyone recommend for a beachside (few steps to the beach for me), private villa, snorkeling nearby? Thanks!

Assume you know that Grenada is very very mountainous. Cannot recommend a villa but a very intimate hotel made up of small cottages is Belair Plantation, www.belairplantation.com. Really nice place, quiet, beach, pool, restaurant. Have a look at their website. It's got lots of character too.

On Grenada, the Spice Island Beach Resort would fit most of what you're looking for. They have some rooms that open right onto the beach, with shaded patios and beach chairs. The beach is beautiful but there's not much snorkeling off of that particular beach. (in fact, grenada isn't a great snorkeling destination) However, Spice Island is all inclusive and extremely expensive. Good food, good service (I just had lunch there this afternoon), and very nice facilities. If you can afford it, it would be a great place for you to stay. It's also right in the middle of things in terms of convenience.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, La Sagesse is inexpensive, also with rooms that are not more than 30 feet from the beach. It's lovely and secluded on a beautiful beach with plenty of natural shade. food is good, service is laid back but not unpleasant. Excellent value. Caveat is lack of a/c (doesn't bother me, but some folks require it) and how far away La Sagesse is from the rest of island conveniences like restaurants and such. I had lunch there two days ago and enjoyed myself immensely.

I'm in Grenada right now and will be here another week. I'd be happy to check out some places for you if they're not too far out of the way and let you know how they are in terms of accessibility.
