anybody been to Raffles on Canouan Island?

We are thinking about trying Raffles on Canoun Island. Any suggestions about preferred rooms, rooms to avoid, tricks about scheduling dinner reservations, snorkeling off the beach. Also what about flights, we are planning Charlotte to St Lucia to Canouan.
Thanks,

We stayed in a Mezzanine villa suite. It was great. But we were able to see all the different room types. Truly, there are no bad room choices here. There isn't much in the way of snorkelling off the beach. If you have never been to the Tobago Cays, you should take a day sail for great snorkeling there. Try to sample all the restaurants. My personal favourite was Godahl's for the beach bbq and for lunch. My favourite for dinner was Jambu.

The rooms at Raffles are among the best anywhere. Even the so called standard rooms are lovely. They are all spread out so you will need your golf cart to get everywhere. But the sense of privacy and space is wonderful. The food is great but I was kind of disappointed in the fine dining restaurant at the casino (I think it's called La Varenne). It just was underwhelming. But the other 3 restaurants are very good. It was a wonderful vacation.

I like the villa suites. You could get a whole family in one. In terms of flights we flew via Barbados so don't know if that's an option for you. I don't remember any snorkelling off the beach. Godahl's Beach is prettier but rougher than the main beach. I also agree that Jambu was great for dinner. The bar is very nice as well.

IslandGrl: we are avid snorkelers and loved Tobago cay 9-10 years ago and would return if the coral is very healthy and not dead or dying. While you say the immediate area around Canaun is not good snorkeling are there 3-6 hour trips to other Islands with very good snorkeling that you visited in past 12-18 months at fairly reasonable prices considering Raffles is quite costly? We would want to go out 3-4 times in a 6 day/7night stay?

I meant that there is no "walk in" snorkelling from the resort beach. You can arrange better snorkelling by boat around Canouan since it is surrounded by a reef. The resort staff at Raffles will arrange that. I was just at the Tobago Cays last month and the snorkelling was wonderful.
