Ten of us are heading to Aruba to celebrate our 40th birthdays in Oct. Other than Moombas, Flying Fish Bone and Simply Fish at The Marriott would you recommend any other restaurants that are outside on the beach? We are staying at the Holiday Inn. Thanks.

On Palm Beach the Marriott and the Wyndham both have dinner on the sand, but when we passed them last year they both had somewhat limited menus (especially the Wyndham), and the Marriott's seemed overpriced. The Pirate's Nest restaurant at Bucuti resort on Eagle Beach is another option where you can sit under a private canopy on the beach. There's also a new restaurant called Marandi that's between town and the airport where I think you can get a table in the sand.

Bucuti has a beautiful beach setting for it's special torchlight dinners, but you might want to solicite further opinion about how good the actual food is if that matters to you. It's been a while since we've eaten there so I can only fairly say: Check further first.

We had a dinner on the beach at the Hyatt back in 2002. We chose off of a limited menu and we had a private waiter. We were the only ones out there. They had lit tiki torches and the ambiance was very romantic. We enjoyed it a lot. You might want to check it out. We even a passer- by stop and take a picture of us. I felt like a celebrity. It was very cool.

We just returned from the Holiday Inn and during our research it was suggested to us: Azull at the Old Wyndham, Passions at Amsterdam Manor and Mirandi. Also Pinchos was suggested, but it's not on the beach, but on a pier directly over the water. Unforntunatley, we didn't make it to any of the them.

Mirandi's very nice.

For a nice setting and a great view of the water and sunset I found Pincho's quite good.

We stayed at the Hyatt and saw people having romantic dinners for 2 right on the beach (under the "umbrellas" which shade sun bathers during the day). I don't know if anyone can eat there or only guests of the Hyatt.

El Gaucho downtown was our favorite!

Chalet Suisse was very good.

We ate at simply fish at the Marriott and it was okay. I am not a big fishy person, but the setting was very vacation. The sun setting while dining was great!

The two restaurants I mentioned are not on a beach but are very good.
