Deep Sea Fishing- Where?

Trying to plan a trip for the first week in November. If the main objective of the trip is deep sea fishing, where would you suggest? Just back from Jamaica, so that's the only "out" place.

Islamorada, FL. You can even drive there. Sport fishing capital of the world.

St. Thomas is a good deep-sea fishing destination, especially if you want to fish for marlin.

My fiance loves to fish and his dream destinations are Costa Rica and Panama. Just a dream so far(thinking of next year) but he reads alot of fishing mags. and says those are his 2 top picks.

I've fished all over the caribbean, and still haven't found anything as good as the FLA keys.

That being said, I'd look into Belize or Costa Rica. I did 4 different charters in Belize, and they were all very productive. Not to mention, cheapest fishing charters I've found anywhere...

It also depends on what you are after. If you like to troll for sails or marlin, you need to check out Mexico. But if a variety of light tackle action floats your boat, Belize is fantastic.

Not sure what is running in November in terms of fishing? It is my understanding that the best time of year in Atlantic or Caribbean is May to September. You may want to do some further research. Costa Rica is highly recommended especially if you want some big fish.

This isn't in the Caribbean, but what about Cabo San Lucas?

Best Regards,
Julia

www.marlinmag.com has a fairly complete list of charter captains the world over.

Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions! Did a search re: fishing tournaments thinking that might give me an idea of what's running. Cabo is looking good, as are Costa Rica & Belize. Doug- love STT/STJ- Any fish this time of year? Looking more for THE BIG ONE than for light tackle as striper season starts here soon. Julia- Can you tell me about Cabo? Thanks

I believe that the big sport-fishing season in the Virgin Islands is a little earlier in the year. The biggest tournaments are in July and August.
