curacao in jan.

Looking at traveling to Curacao in Jan. Will greatly appreciate any advice on hotels, etc. Is the Marriot a good place to stay? How are the restaurants? Should i take the meal plan at the hotel or are there places near the hotel?
Thanks for any help!

If you do a search for Curacao, you will find a recently posted trip report from someone who stayed at the Marriott.
We're going but not till Feb. so I unfortunately can't help you.
Good luck.

We were at the Marriott last December and liked it very much. We ate primarily at the poolside bar which was fine for simple food and at the other outdoor casual restaurant for breakfast - which had a very nice buffet. We did not try the "nicer" restaurant but we did have dinner at the weekly cook out on the beach which we really enjoyed as they have picnic tables right on the beach. There is also a deli in the hotel that has pretty good sandwiches. I don't think there are any other restaurants walking distance from the hotel except maybe the Hilton which is next door. The rooms are very nice but on the small side. The beach is a little bit rocky but swimable and there is some snorkeling right off the beach. Let me know if you have any other specific questions.

I was in Curacao last November. We split our time between The Kura Hulanda and the Marriott. The Kura was very nice and offered wonderful service, but both my husband and I preferred the Marriott. The Marriott also offered great service and it was directly on the beach.

If you do a search for Marriott Curacao I also did a trip report last year.

If you have any specific questions after you read my trip report feel free to post back here or email me.

You will be captivated by Curacao! Very colorful island. The Marriott is magnificent! The restaurants are good. You may want to take the breakfast plan. There are not many places close by, but do rent a car or take a taxi and try some of the restaurants around the island!

bkw,
The Curacao Marriott is one of the best resorts in the Carib and its reasonably priced. I'd say without a doubt stay there. Not sure about a meal plan, did that one time in Bermuda and never again...after we got out and explored and saw other restaurants we felt confined and frustrated. Can't say its cheaper going "ala carte" but certainly more interesting. Enjoy your trip.

I just got back from Curacao last night and I stayed at the Marriott. I did the All-Inclusive because I knew that Curacao wasn't going to have the same accommodations as Aruba when it came to dining outside of your resort. The restaurants are great at the Marriott with exceptional service. Food is pretty expensive and if you enjoy alcohol, I would highly recommend their All-Inclusive package. It's nice not having to worry about the cost of food/drinks while on vacation and the A-I package at the Marriott is worth it. Remember to tip though although they say it's included in the package. The service charge included is put into a big pot which gets distributed amongst everyone on staff and paid 2x/yr only. Your actual waiter/waitress does not get that full amount which I feel he/she highly deserves.
