Can anyone advise whether Verizon cell phone service is available on St. John, USVI without huge roaming fees?

thanks!

We used our AT&T cellphones a little bit on st Thomas and St John - and had no problems. I don't know specifically about Verizon, but I would just call and ask, because sometimes things change dependant upon what plan you have.

The USVI is the united states so you are able to use a ?US cell phone without huge fees. You do need to be careful however on some of the more outlying areas of the island close to the BVI's where you could accidently pick up a British signal.

You can get Verizon service on St John. My boyfriend had no problem staying in touch with his son while we vacationed. I do not know what the raoming charges were...sorry.

To quote my best friend last year while on St. John - "I get service on St. John but not on St. Helena Island (Beaufort, SC)". He's with Verizon and his service is actually better. My & wife use our Sprint/Embraq phones with no problem & no roaming fees.

We have T-Mobile and rather than risk any BVI roaming issues I bought a $20 ATT Go Phone for St. John. Just another option.

Yes you will get service with Verizon. However, there will be roaming charges. The roaming charges add up quickly so use your cell phone sparingly. - Susan

All the major US carriers except Verizon do not charge roaming on USVI and Puerto Rico since they are US territories. I am not sure why verizon does not consider them part of the US. Even tmobile prepaid works there without additional charges.
