CAN I USE MY CELL PHONE????????
Going to St Croix, have cingular for my service. Has anyone used their cell phone? And did you get charged a roaming fee? I called cingular and they told me that it is part of the US calling area ( a US territory). Any information would be appreciated..

Thank You! I just talked to the concierge at the hotel where we'll be staying and she told me she also has cingular and calls the US frequently and there is no roaming fee.
Thank You MIG

My Verizon phone worked in St. Thomas last month, but since the network was't owned by Verizon I was charged roaming fees.
I had confirmed this with Verizon in advance so I only used my cell phone a few times as needed.

I have Verizon and my husband has Sprint. Both of our phones work on most of St. Thomas as far as we can tell. They only work on the western half of St. John. Since we have a place in Coral Bay (east end), I finally got a Cingular phone which works everywhere on St. Thomas and St. John. Cingular seems to enjoy the widest reach in the Virgin Islands. I think St. Croix has it too.

How odd Christie....We were told by Nextel that they had no service in the USVI. My bf insisted on bringing his Nextel phone anyway and sure enough there was no service.
My Verizon worked fine, no roaming either but a little trouble accessing my voicemail. I think the roaming issue depends on the plan that you have.
I just can't figure out the Nextel issue. Weird!

That is weird..I called Nextel before we left and they said that we should have service on STT and some parts of STJ..they said that have a tower on STX..also PR should have service.
When we got there STT we did have service in some parts and STJ we did on the East side for a few minutes.
