Cayman VS Jamaica

We are looking to take the family on vacation this spring. Last year, we went to Beaches Turks and Caicos, which was fun, but not worth the money, in my opinion. Our children are 6, 9, and 12. They love the pool and water slides, and want to hang out with us, not go to a kids camp. We were thinking about trying either the Cayman Islands or Jamaica. We don't mind spending a little more for great service and delicious food. Touring the island and going on an excursion are possibilities, but my youngest is too little to appreciate any real sight seeing. Any suggestions?

I think Caymans would like provide an easier, more gentle experience. I love Jamaica but it can be a tad 'rough' around the edges for tourists.

Thank you. Can you recommend any kid-friendly, fun resorts in the Caymans?

Grand Cayman is more about condos & hotels than it is "resorts". The best bang for your buck is a condo. With the kids, you will want to be on 7MB for the most action. Cayman has some of the best restaurants in the islands, but they are very pricey.

Check out www.caymanvacations.com for condo choices and locations on the island.

No sorry. I only know Jamaica, my reply was more about not sending you there. I loved it and have been to Negril a few times over the years, but it just didn't sound like what you were requesting in my limited experiences.

I agree with Bass. If you are going to Grand Cayman with 5 people you are better off staying at a condo. Central Seven Mile Beach has the newest condos older condos and a good area and a great section of the beach, north Seven Mile Beach has a good beach areas and older but updated condos. North Seven Mile beach is has much more affordable condos. A am not a fan of the south part of the beach.

If you stay on Seven Mile Beach, most of the excellent restaurants are 10-15 minutes or less by car.

Your kid will love Stingray City. You can also go to the Turtle Center.
