Carribean All Inclusive

Hello, We first planned on a Southern Carribean Cruise, but now might be interested in a All Inclusive Hotel in the Carribean. We are not looking to go to Jamaica, or Mexico, and Sandals/Couples are a little out of our price range. I would love to find something in the Southern Carribean if possible. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced ($200-$250 a night) AI in the Carribean that you could recommend. We are going on our Honeymoon and would like to do a lot of relaxing on a nice beach, but would love the option to do some sight seeing and shopping. Thanks in advance for any help. By the way we would be looking for something in December of this year.

Try looking into Punta Cana for AI. Friends of ours in their early 30's have gone back twice. I'm not sure where they stayed though. If you're interested, I can find out where they stayed. Let me know. Punta Cana is more reasonably priced than other islands. good luck!

Is there a particular reason you want the southern caribbean?

For your price range (which is pretty low for an AI, especially in the second half of December!), I'd suggest that you take a look at Cocobay on Antigua. They frequently have nice packages available for auction at LuxuryLink, but I think it's only good for travel before December 15. Antigua is a lovely island with dozens and dozens of beaches to choose from. Shopping isn't bad, and it's an easy island to drive around on your own if you want to rent a car to explore.

When in December do you want to go? If it's after the 15, finding a place in your desired price range might be pretty tough.

We've done AI's in Mexico, St. Thomas, Grand Cayman, and St. Lucia. There are also AI hotels in Antigua, St. Bart's, Aruba, and Curacao.

Try looking on Funjet.com under "destinations". It will give you a good idea of hotels that offer AI packages and pricing for your dates. High season starts mid-December to the end of April. Rates during that time will go way up.

The most affordable AI's with variety of choices will be Mexico, Jamaica and Dominican Republic. We honeymooned in Cozumel and of all the places we've been to, it is still the best destination for us.

hi jessica, congratulations! i have not been to the dominican republic so know nothing about punta cana, but have read in several posts here that leaving the ai's on dom rep is considered very undesireable. this might affect the sightseeing and shopping. however if you choose dr look at www.tntvacations.com for some great deals. its a charter company.
maya riviera/cozumel might be a good choice to fit your criteria. if cancun if too crowded for your taste look for an ai nearer to playa del carmen.
whatever you decide on though i would make reservations soon for dec. - as ejcrowe says this a very popular travel time in carib.
