ok so i'm in love with cap juluca but if we stay in the junior suite as i'd like, we'll blow our honeymoon budget. so i need comments on the lower rooms. are they just as nice and comfortable?

also cusinart spa looks amazing too. does it even begin to compare to cap? it's so much more reasonable.

do we need to put aside a lot of spending money for food? how expensive are the restaurants in anguilla?

CuisinArt is not as popular as Cap for 2 reasons IMO: the beach isn't quite as nice, and the rooms aren't quite as nice. CA feels a little more like an apartment complex. CJ offers more privacy. Also, CA has no rooms right on the beach.
My guess is that CA will always be a little less popular for those reasons, provided that the owners of CJ maintain it properly.
I'm not a spa person, so can't help you there.
You can check actual menus of many of Anguilla's restaurants online.
Prices for entrees range from a maximum of $40-50 at the very best restaurants, to $20-25 at the good ones. A few worthwhile places have entrees down around $10-12.
Wine prices aren't much higher than those at good US restaurants.

The lower end rooms are wonderful, you would think they are all the best in the house! All are beachfront, most have great views. Yes, they are just as nice and comfortable. Same size pato/terrace, etc. Caps spa services are excellent-mostly done in your room. Caps restaurants are all water view, and very good. The best part about Anguilla is experiencing the many nice
spots to dine and explore.

CuisinArts spa is lovely, open to all, naturally guests get priority. The hotel has buildings on the beach(a small dune bluff), these are all junior suites, etc. We watched them being built, in a way they sort of copied the CJ separate building concept, but they are a lot closer together. The main building is set back, its top floor has the "best" large suites, also lower priced rooms are in this complex. CuisinArt is more of a lush, hotel complex, very nice, but the beach can be very windy. Its restaurants are set back for that very reason.
As far as food, lots of less expensive
spots-Tastys, Es'Oven, English Rose, plus the well known Mangos, Blanchards etc. Lots of info at www.news.ai.

Have stayed at both. While the rooms are different we actually liked the rooms at CA better as long as you don't stay in the main building. In no way did they feel like apartments. They were clean, updated, luxuriuos and had much better views of the beach and St. Martin than CJ.

It's not possible to have "much better views of the beach and St. Martin" than you get from the rooms at Cap Juluca! LOL!
The rooms at CJ are set right on the beach and the views of St. Martin are totally unobstructed from every room.
The suites are not actually sitting on the beach since they're on the second floor of the buildings, but that actually makes the views that much better.
There aren't ANY rooms at Cuisinart which are actually on the beach, though the villas in front are close. Most of the rooms at CA don't even face the beach.

"LOL"......I have to agree with TedTurner about the views of St. Martin and would like to add that in most of the villas you can hear the lapping of the water which IMO is so tranquil and just lulls you to sleep.

We are going to Anguilla for our honeymoon Nov. 3-11th. We had the same dilemma on prices. We have opted to stay at CuisanArt Resort because we get more for our money with the room and package. I have heard great things about Cap Juluca but we decided to spend the money we are saving on meals and spa treatments. CA has a great honeymoon package where you get a junior suite, 3 dinners, 3 lunches, skilly cay trip, couples massage, and a car for the day. It was a very tough call and we are very particular where we stay...weve stayed at nice places around the world. Believe we will have a nice time.

I noticed that this month's Travel And Leisure contains its "World's Best" lists.
It (again) ranks Cap Juluca the top resort in the Caribbean.
CuisinArt wasn't ranked in the list of top 25 places.

Both CuisinArt & Cap are beautiful resorts on gorgeous beaches with spectacular views. You can't go wrong with either one!!

Do check out some of the other fabulous beaches & great restaurants -- it's a great island to veg out on.

JMHO that the standard rooms at Cap are just as great as the higher priced accomodations. They all are on the water and very comfortable. I found CuisinArt less warm and comfortable - more sterile - and not in the same zone as Cap and Malli. Felt more "private" at Cap and on windy days when the water was choppy and non-swimmable at CuisinArt, Cap's was smooth as a lake.
