BVI's Necker Island

Anyone every been and have any opinion about it? Looks very nice. I would be interested in the rooms under 500 a night.

Generally, Necker rents out as an entire island. However, during some limited periods, a couple can rent a single room -- the rates for that start at $23,500 per week (or just over $3,300/night); rates are pretty much the same if you and 24 friends and rent the entire island. Most of us mere mortals enjoy Necker from afar, viewed from a chartered boat moored in North Sound (which you could get, if you can sail it yourself and depending on the season and boat, for around $500/night).

I've been there. It's a truly spectacular resort.

However, I think you may be very mistaken about rooms a Necker at $500 per night - to my knowledge they don't exist. Necker is a perivate island resort - one of the most exclusive and expensive in the Caribbean. The island accomodates up to 28 guests at one time and generally rents for something like $47,000 per day. That comes out to about $1,675 per person per day (assuming all rooms are occupied). The resort normally rents to small groups wanting the best in a Caribbean vacation.

If I'm not mistaken when there are no private groups scheduled at the resort they will rent out rooms to couples. The daily rate for this starts at $23,500 per couple per week - this comes to the same $1,675 per person per night.

RoamAround is generally correct. In 2006 we held our executive committee meeting there for 2 days then our spouses or significant others and a few employees worthy of the highest recognition were also invited for 3 nights.
Branson really has put together an amazing facility that we were told he uses by flying into Virgin Gorda and then over to Necker. In 2006 the week. Back then we paid $160,000+/- for the 5 nights and we used all but 2 bedrooms.
