We stayed at the Coral Hamaca two years ago, and didn't like it at all. The nicer part of the resort is near the pool, but it's a long walk to the beach and the restaurants. Because of low occupancy, all the specialty restaurants were closed when we went, but we certainly didn't get a discount because of it. The food was okay, at best. We also didn't care for that part of the DR, and we've been to the DR 7 times. Pls. let me know if you have any specific questions that I can answer.

Iris,
My best friend and I stayed at Coral Hamaca from 8/1/-8/10/03. We had such a great time that we are going back in November for 10 days. I guess it all depends on what type of person you are to be able to enjoy your stay. The staff, especially the Chocolate Friends did a great job keeping you busy with activities and they also were the ones that performed the nightly shows in the theater. These people work their butts off working 6 days a week. I can only imagine what crappy salary they receive for working so hard. All in all, they are a bunch of hard working happy go lucky crowd. We stayed on the garden view side, which is across the street from the main bldg and the beach. It took us about 5 minutes to get to the beach, but with all the drinking and eating we did, this helped with keeping the weight off. We did not go to any of the restaurants that you need to make reservations for, since we wanted to eat at anytime. We ate at the buffet for all 3 meals and enjoyed everything they had to offer. We did not go into the casino, since we are not into gambling. So I can't offer any opinions. If you would like any more information, just post a reply to this and I will try my best to answer your queries.
