Best Island
My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to the carribean in Oct. We are looking for a romantic spot with beautiful beaches that also has some night life and water sports. Any suggestions? Oh..yeah, been to Bahamas already. Thank you for your help!!!

I have heard a lot about the dominican republic lately.... And i have a lot of friends that enjoy Barbados. I have been thinking about putting a trip together to one of those places, and they both sound like a ton of fun. I have checked out flights on orbitz (in pre planning these trips in my mind) and the prices are reasonable - at least on orbitz. I know they are both great for water sports and the both have great night life

kakes, my husband and I stayed at Sandals Antigua last year and really enjoyed it. The beach is beautiful with powder-like sand and calm, aquamarine water. The resort has a real laid back/romantic feel to it with lush/tropical gardens. We enjoyed staynig all-inclusive mostly because we had access to the watersports equipment anytime we liked. It was also nice to not have to think about finances for a week!
October is hurricane season and the further south you go, the better. We were in Antigua the first week in October (September is prime time for hurricanes) and we had perfect weather the entire week.
You didn't mention your budget but Sandals is offering 35-40% off. If you are looking for something a bit more on the luxury side, check out Jumby Bay. It's located off the shore of Antigua on a private 300-acre island. If you have any questions, please ask. Good luck in choosing, and enjoy!

I forgot to mention, the resort offered nightly entertainment usually consisting of a local steel drum band. Once a week they have a beach party with a band and fire eaters. Once the entertainment is done, the disco and piano bar opens.

We just got back from the Dominican Republic (which was amazing). There were amazing beaches, we went snorkling and checked out this really great cave that had a river running through it and then underwater into the caribbean sea.
I think price might dictate where you can go...we chose the Dominican Republic bc it was more or less affordable, we actually booked the whole vacation on orbitz on one of their special deals.
We stayed in punta cana, which is very quiet, really just a small village w/ some nice resorts...
If you want night life, you might want to check out Puerto Plata, which is cancun-ish in that it offers good shopping and nightlife, but it's not half a crowded, loud and overdone.
I've had friends that have been to Jamaica and had a good time, though I've had others that were miserable bc of the crime and such. The Cayman Islands are also supposed to be really nice, but I've never been there...
Just shop around...no matter where you go, I'm sure you'll have a great time!
