Bermuda-trip report-Oct
Trip report of our 4 day trip to Bermuda
We stayed at the Kingston House B&B on Turnstile lane in Hamilton. This was a convenient location(10min walk) to downtown Hamilton yet in an upscale district. Get the Bird of Paradise room as it has king/(2 twin) beds, balcony and large bath. Continental Plus breakfast and good conversation w/ host made this place a great deal. We didn't rent scooters - looked too hazardous - did get bus/ferry pass which was a great deal.
Day #1 - arrived and explored Hamilton
restaurants: Pickled Onion - Lobster Crab Martini - wow!; Mediteraneo(Church St) - tapas style appetizers as well as full menu - this was our favorite along w/ great service
Day #2 - Bought lunch at Miles Market and took bus out to Jobson Cove and then walked along to Horseshoe Beach through park.
Beers and seafood salad at Tio Pepe. Gibb's Lighthouse - closed for repairs for several weeks. Returned to Hamilton and took ferry out to Watford Bridge to Salt Rock Grill for dinner and then bus back to Hamilton and had after dinner drinks at Tuscany
Day #3 - Bus out to St. George - not that impressed, beer at White HOrse tavern. Stopped off at Crystal Caverns and toured caverns - great tour guide - beautiful caverns. Took bus to North Rock Brewing ... good porter. Dinner at Hog Penny - good.
Day #4 - BEI - fascinating museum, bus to Salt Rock for brunch(no codfish breakfast)
ferry to Dockyard and then ferry back to Hamilton and had dinner at La Trattoria.
Favorite restaurants: Salt Rock Grill, Mediterraneo, Pickled Onion

yes, we loved the convenience of the bus/ferry system and after hearing about a couple who were killed on their anniversary while riding a scooter and then a local who was hit by a truck while we were there...no thanks.
Salt Rock was a wonderful find...

Definitely people swimming - I found water a little chilly in Jobson's Cove but once you got in and with the outside temps in the 80's and sunny...
We had good weather - 80's and sunny or just a few clouds for most of the 4 days. It rained torrentially one nite but stopped by a.m. and the day we were leaving it rained hard until about 10am and then then was overcast and muggy until about 11:30 and then turned into a beautiful sunny, breezy day...but that was when hurricanes were making their way up from FL.
