All resorts charge a lot for food and drinks. You can go right across the street to Anthony's Caribbean Grille for happy hour.

Or head to the Green Parrot at Hurricane Hole where drinks are $4.50 a pop, and even cheaper at happy hour.

No need to spend $8-$12 for a drink at Atlantis. GP is just 5 minutes walk.

Was just there last week.

I found the prices at the beach bar (near the Beach Tower) to be a little less than everywhere else. Two drinks generally ran in the $12/$13 range, a 15% tip always included in the check. 2 Kalik(Bahamian beer) were $11 and change.

Over by the Lagoon 2 Kalik was more like $13 and up and mixed drinks higher still.

The indoor bars (like Plato's) were a little higher still in the evening, in the $15/$16 range for 2 Pina Coladas, but they were good sized, tasty Pina Coladas.

Incidentally, I had no qualms with the amount of alcohol in the drinks, which seemed fine.

Unless you're a raging alcoholic just bite the bullet and pay the price, which, if you deduct the 15% and divide by 2, is actually in the neighborhood of $5.50 - $6 for a beer and $6.50-$7.50 for a mixed drink. It's nicer drinking on-site and the money you'll save running here and there is really minimal in the long run.

Certainly if I were hanging out at the beach or pool, I wouldn't go off the property for a drink, but in the evening, Green Parrot has quite a nice view. It's located at the Hurricane Hole Marina on the water with a view of the bridges/Cruiseships and city lights. You can even see the weekend fireworks at Atlantis while perched on a barstool out by the harbour. Outdoor venues in the evening are closed at Atlantis. Nowhere to see the harbour lights or enjoy the salt air.
As for the beach, bring along a bottle of your favorite booze in a softside cooler if you want to defray the cost.
