ANYONE GET REAL SICK IN JAMAICA?

I read the previous post regarding Jamaica, I also am concerned about that. Has anyone gotten sick in Jamaica when they stayed at an upscale resort?

Thanks

I've been to Jamaica a number of times and have never even gotten slightly sick. I've had the tap water to drink and have always been fine.

So if you saw that your question had already been asked/posted, what on earth possessed you to ask the same question again? What you couldn't wait to read the answers on the first post?
Stop taking dumb pills!! Not to mention how stupid a question it is!! Of course people get sick once and a while!! And no, it's not Mexico!!

During the past 25 years I've gotten food poisoning in restaurants in Denver, Santa Fe, and Washington DC. Had no problems in Jamaica, Aruba, US Virgin Islands or British Virgin Islands.
In nearly 20 trips to Jamaica over ten years, I've never gotten sick(other than a couple nasty carryovers(hangovers)! The water and food have been fine. I have drunk tap water and eaten from roadside vendors with no problems. I do tend to stick with chicken however, for protein, rather than pork or beef.

I compare this to one trip to Mexico 12 years ago in which I got food/water poisoning on the second day...nearly ruined the trip entirely. It's the only vacation in which I've ever lost weight..6lbs! Ugh..always wanted to go back because the beach was so lovely, but the thought of potential sickness continues to put me off even after all this time.

Lenny,
Are you saying you got Cholera, Hepatitis and typhoid in St Martin? Or did you get a tummy ache from one or two too many drinks, or maybe you couldn't handle your losses at the casino?
Jamaica can't handle seeing you without feeling ill either. Stay home in Rochester where you belong please. Leave the Caribbean to those of us that can handle it.

My husband got more sick than I have ever seen after eating a piece of tuna steak at Xtabi. Lost about 48 hrs of vacation time. Bummer.

The one thing I would caution visitors to Jamaica about is their milk. It's is absolutely wonderful, but very high in butterfat and rich as hell. Any drinks made with milk (dirty bananas in my case)may keep you in the bathroom all day.
