A Rainy Week in Anguilla?

Oh, dear, I've been looking forward to lying on the beach all next week on my first trip to Anguilla, but as I check the forecasts all I see are predictions of clouds and rain. I know forecasts beyond a couple of days are incredibly unreliable, but can anyone reassure me? Do these forecasts just mean brief thunderstorms late in the day, or am I in for a week in my hotel room?

it has been raining all week in St. marten, which is right next door to Anguilla.
but it has cleared up now and the sun is shining.
I don't know what next week will be like for sure but usually when there is rain in the forecast, it is brief showers and then lots of sun and blue skies.

You might have already left, but we just came back from anguilla. I almost cancelled our trip b/c of the forecast-- but it was amazing , perfect weather! Enjoy!

I just got back from St. Barths (right next door) and it rained for half the week I was there. On the bright side, the weather reports are unreliable and most of the locals don't pay attention. It was supposed to rain for the entire week, but it only rained for half. Be prepared for some rain and have some alternate activities planned. Also, be prepared to run to the beach at a moment's notice - the rain can come and go very quickly. Your best weather forcast however is to simply look to the horizon.

You didn't mention which forecasts you are checking, but one that seems pretty reliable is www.wunderground.com. Wall Blake, Anguilla is the location they use. Also, www.windguru.com is a good site for wind conditions, especially if you're planning to take the public ferry across from St. Martin.

I've been to Anguilla 7 times. Each time the forecast is rain for the whole week. Each time we have maybe a few hrs of rain one day. It's not a lush island because they don't get much rainfall.

Thank you all for the reassurance; I just got back and had a wonderful trip. We had a few passing showers each morning--otherwise, perfect weather.

My only regret is not having discovered Rendezvous Bay Hotel sooner; now it's due to be closed and revamped as something so much different.

I have a sure fire way to make you feel better. Go to www.anguillaguide.com and click on their webcam page. You can check on the weather every day. The picture refreshes every 60 seconds. I'm happy to report it's been sunny every day for the past two weeks.
Have a wonderful time!!!!
