which hotel to stay at?
My husband and I and our two children, 12 and 10, are planning to visit Montreal Easter weekend. We are looking for a nice hotel (4 star +) that has a nice indoor pool in the complex. We would prefer to be within walking distance to many attractions/ entertainment.

The Hilton and InterContinental would be excellent choices. The IC is the closest 4* hotel to Old Montreal, and it's got an indoor pool. The Hilton is about 2 blocks further away from Old Montreal, but its layout might especially appeal to families: it's got a heated pool that you enter from indoors, but you can swim to the outdoor (rooftop) side of the pool. Because it's heated, you can be swimming comfortably outside even if it's snowing out. The Hilton also has a rooftop outdoor garden and walkway that I find to be lovely, and kids would enjoy the ducks that hang out in the water areas alongside the walkway.

Dear MMg,

If you want to be in the heart of downtown montreal and you want an indoor pool, I would like to add my 2 cents worth. The Intercontinental and Hilton are both lovely but for me I'd prefer to be more downtown. The Inter. is closer to Old Montreal. That being said, Old Montreal is wonderful and has a number of things but my choices would be the following: www.sofitel.com(click on montreal),it has all the amenities and will give you free passes for the pool across the street but take a look at their website. The location of this hotel is tops. Nearby(right nearby) but not deluxe(but ok) is The Best Western Ville Marie-you'd have to check if it has a pool. There is also the Sheraton Hotel-514-878-2000. Another Delta(not posh but ok)www.deltahotels.com(1-800-268-1133)
Here are some websites: www.montrealcam.com; Call this toll free number 1-877-266-5687 and order your free brochures and go on this site www.bonjourquebec.com Let me know

The Delta Downtown on President Kennedy is in a better location, right on Sherbrooke, 1 1/2 blocks to the Metro. very close to everything. The rooms are spacious and nice, but I'd say it's closer to a 3 * than a super luxury hotel. The pool is clean and well kept, but nothing special. The other Delta is at the entranceway to the downtown, in a less interesting (but perfectly safe) area, but I've never stayed there.

Zootsi gave you wonderful advice re the Delta. There is also the Omni on sherbrooke st which may very well have a pool but again the Sofitel is excellent and in the heart of everything; What rizzuto said is also good advice;do you prefer being in Old Montreal or downtown?
