What to wear ?

We'll be touring in the Ontario and Quebec provinces and would like to know what clothing we should bring along. We'll be on the road from Sept. 16 to Oct.7.Paul

1. You do not indicate where in the 2 provinces you will be. Together, they stretch over 1500 Km east to west. I assume you will be in the populated area between Quebec City and Niagara Falls. Correct?

2. That period can be very uncertain. Last year, we left Ontario late in September for a trip to the south of France: It was warmer in Ontario that week (28 degrees) than in Provence!

But generally, the weather should be in the 10-15 degree range, in the later part of your stay.

3. You are a little early to see the full Fall colours in MOST of the region, unfortunately. You can expect rain -- maybe a lot, maybe a little.

4. In cities, expect to wear what you would in any larger European city. Black is a good colour anywhere, in that season. In the countryside, wear whatever you like -- rural Ontario and Quebec are relatively poor and quite unsophisticated.

5. Bring some lighter clothing in case it's warm but plan to "layer". Definitely bring sweaters and a jacket.

You would have to plan for all weather conditions with that broad of a trip. We always have lots of hot weather in Ontario at some point in the fall. Have a great trip!
