I have a international flight from Vancouver at 5 am in the morning. Since I will have to be there 2 hours earlier and I am not sure if I should use the Skytrain and the buses from Surrey at that time, if there is a close hotel or one with shuttle service at that time. It would be less for slepping than for getting to the Airport without problems. Or if I go to the airport the night before if there would be something at the airport or around it to do. Thanks

I can recommend the Fairmont Vancouver Airport hotel located in the terminal. They have good specials at the moment. Just sign in for their news letter and you will receive attractive offers.

The skytrain doesn't run early morning (I think?). Your choices are a cab or overnight at an airport hotel. Lots to choose from that have shuttles. Since you have to check in at airport at 2am-3am, I'd do the cab (unless you are paying for a hotel anyway, then go to the airport area the afternoon before)

We were quite happy with our room at the Delta Hotel, cheaper than the Fairmont when I checked. They have a free shuttle that runs every 20 minutes, which I believe runs 24 hours. It is about 5 minutes ride from the airport.

The Fairmont at the Airport is a pretty high-end hotel. The Delta is nice. Just depends what you want - if you just want a place to sleep I would go with the Delta.

I also agree with dar, I'd do the cab thing instead of shelling out for a hotel for just a few hours. Although, could be almost as expensive! I have no idea what the rate would be for a cab ride from Surrey to the airport.
