We are planning a two week vacation in Quebec this August, flying in and out of Montreal. We would like to include Quebec City, of course, as well as a driving tour along the northern and southern coasts of the St. L., and some of the Gaspe Peninsula. Are we attempting too much?

You might find that going all the way to Gasp&eacute; is a bit too much. I think it's better to do the Saguenay instead.<BR><BR>Here's what I suggest for 14 nights:<BR>Montreal 3 nights at front end, one night back end.<BR>Quebec city: 3 nights<BR>From Quebec City, do the south shore first (that way you'll be saving desert for last). Stop for one night in Kamouraska or St-Andr&eacute; and then drive up to Le Bic (one night). See the Parc national du Bic.<BR>Come back towards Rivi&egrave;re-du-Loup and take a mid-afternoon ferry to St-Sim&eacute;on. (Check schedule at www.travrdlstsim.com/e/horaire/index.htm)<BR><BR>From St-Sim&eacute;on take route 170 ouest. Stop in Anse St-Jean for a beautifuil village and great view of the Saguenay fjord.<BR>Continue to Chicoutimi (1 night).<BR><BR>From Chicoutimi return via the North Shore of the Saguenay (Route 172 east) Stop at Ste-Rose-du-Nord. (one night) Don't miss a cruise on the Saguenay fjord aboard "La Marjolaine" Two cruises per day from Ste-Rose-du-Nord. <BR><BR>From Ste-Rose-du-Nord head towards Tadoussac on Route 172 east. The road follows the valley of the Ste-Marguerite river. <BR>Stop in Tadoussac (one night. Take the ferry free) to Baie-Ste-Catherine. If you are interested, there are many whale watching cruises that leave from there. Return towards Baie-St-Paul via route 138 west. One night in Baie St-Paul. Return to Montreal via 138 west.<BR><BR>If the math is right, that's some of the beautiful scenery you'll ever see in 14 days. Have a great trip!

(www.aubergefoindemer.com)<BR><BR>Le Bic: Auberge du Mange-grenouille. Very nice decoration & fabulous food.<BR>(www.aubergedumangegrenouille.qc.ca)<BR>< BR>Chicoutimi: Auberge des Gouverneurs. Modern, but convenient on blvd Talbot. www.gouverneur.com/chicoutimi/accueil.html). Excellent restaurant nearby is Le Deauville. La Cuisine on rue Racine in Old Chicoutimi is also excellent.<BR><BR>Ste-Rose-du-Nord: G&icirc;te Le Presbyt&egrave;re. is also an excellent restaurant. No web site.<BR><BR>Tadoussac: H&ocirc;tel Tadoussac. www.hoteltadoussac.com<BR><BR>Baie St-Paul: La Corbi&egrave;re. 10 mins outside of town, but very nice. (www.lacorbiere.com). A good bistro in Baie St-Paul: Le St-Pub on rue St-Jean-Baptiste.<BR><BR>Again have a great trip!
