Hello, anybody has comments on Dufferin hotel in Vancouver?

Also location - Seymour St @ Smythe, is it convenient for using public transportation to go to usual tourist attractions?

Just a friendly warning - the hotel is popular with the gay community. This isn't a bad thing at all - as long as you know this before arriving. The Dufferin's hotel lounge bar is frequented by drag queens and the like... makes for some interesting stories!

As for the location - you're in a very central area, right outside where the buses go by, and a block away from skytrain. At the same time, downtown Vancouver's so small, you'd be able to walk to most of the attractions without having to use the bus.

Seymour Street Gross?

Hardly Gross-more like a howling bore!!!

It's main thouroughfare for Downtown traffic so can be very noisy.

In any case there are nicer places to stay than the Dufferin-lots of them

The Dufferin pub is lots of fun. Especially if you love balloons. The ceiling is always heavenly decorated with them. The people are warm and friendly. One of the most memorable evenings was the time we sat drinking wine with Candy, an entertaing lady of choice who could be Susan Sarandon's twin. As for the hotel, while I've never stayed there, it seems to be okay. A better choice would be the Days Inn on Pender. It is clean, inexpensive and walking distance from everything downtown.
But go have a drink at the Dufferin. Live a little.
Luv,
Mandy

Thank you, everybody, I had the feeling I need to find out what's behind their hotel description I was looking for something inexpensive. Although living in San Francisco I don't mind to be in the gay area I'd prefer to stay away from drag queens, thanks for warning, Robyn. Thank you, Marylin, I prefer theatres over pubs.
