Ted, I know exactly what you mean. The Fodor's GTG's seem to create a festive mood and everyone has such a good time.

I'm already looking forward to the Toronto one and also the one in California in Sept.

Is anyone from out of town planning on staying over in the area of the Hot House Cafe? I likely will need to stay because of distances involved. I am looking at the Sheraton Centre or the Harbour Castle as being the most convenient lcoation. Any other suggestions?

Hi tC. I'll be coming in from Halifax and spending the night of the 9th in Toronto. I'll probably stay with a nephew, who lives a few blocks away.

If I can't stay at my nephew's, I'll likely book the Cambridge Suites at the corner of Richmond and Young:

I've stayed there a few times over the years ... huge rooms and nice staff. All of downtown Toronto is nearby, including the Hot House Cafe.

Looking forward to seeing you.

I read a while back about a Boston GTG and Fodors sent fun stuff like bags, etc - have we asked? If not I'm happy to do so.

Do we have a time, kodi?

I don't think it will be any problem getting there. We're going to see Avenue Q that afternoon so it should be a pretty great day altogether!

Anselm

I have booked a room at the Sheraton Center for the night of the 9th. They have a special on for $139 plus taxes. Thanks for your info on the Cambridge Suites.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone.

I don't think we've set a time yet.
Was it 7 last year? Seems to me it was, to give out of towners time to get there..
We'll set a time soon.
What is good for you?

Hi kodi!

I think it was a little earlier than 7 last year, but I can't recollect for sure.

Starting time isn't a big issue for me, so I can go with whatever everyone else is happy with.

I'm sure the play will be over by 5 at the latest, so time is no problem for us either.

Last year I think it was 6.00 pm at the Hot House, and anyone arriving earlier than that was welcomed to hang at Moolyn's condo before going to the restaurant.

The pre-dinner stand-up cocktail/chat time at the restaurant was great fun : meeting, discovering and chatting with everyone, as it allowed one to move around. Sitting to dinner had you stay put until you were done eating.

I've blocked off the afternoon and evening for this, so anytime to meet up is fine for me too. (Every other weekend in July and August is booked up).

Also : If any of our out-of-towners attending the GTG would like a guided visit to any particular site or place of interest during the morning or afternoon, or needs assistance with anything, or recommendations of places or things to see and do (The Toronto Islands, The Distillery District, go for a Dim Sum lunch, etc.) don't hesitate to ask. I'm happy to play tour guide for the day. Also, I'll have my car if you want to see anything located beyond the city limits.

Mathieu

What a kind and generous offer to make. I agree that the stand up time before dinner will provide more opportunities to mix and meet.

See, I knew my memory wasn't as good as it once was!!!I'll check with Moolyn and others and try to get a time arranged.

Mathieu, yes, a wonderful offer. It is so kind of you to think of it.

Being a Saturday this year, I think most of us will not have to worry about what time we will get there in rush hour traffic.

Looking forward to it so much.
