Goddess - today I'm afraid I can't give you warm weather and sunshine... it's yucky here and will be for the rest of the week.
Sally - would you like to borrow the horse-dog? He strained his shoulder so I had to stay home with him today to keep him off it. I'm sure he would be happy to help.

Toed hang in there til Sept. I'll bring you a care package!!
As for the GTG, I'm thinking the summer time looks good. Most have plans for other times of the year.
What does everyone think? We could be sitting out on a nice patio on a beautiful summer evening.Just think about it.. warm weather... cool drinks..lots of laughs.
And what about a weekend evening so out of towners can make it?

Sounds good to me, kodi. At this point, we have no plans for the summer. We might go away for the occasional long weekend and, unfortunately, those would be the best weekends for the out-of-towners to come in. Still, I'm sure we could work something out and I really, really want to come this time.
I'm already picturing the patio, the summer evening, the vodka mohito...sigh.

Kodi, we have summers? I'm trying to remember what they look and feel like!
But seriously, summer would be perfect.

Anselm: 20 degrees C. today, here in Savannah,
We depart for Ottawa on Thursday morning.
I had forgotten we have WINTER -- but I guess I'll have a sharp re-introduction to climatic realities, on our return. Yecch! Fortunately we head off to Rome, Tuscany and Paris, early in March.

Ahh, Tedgale, I love Savannah. I hope you are enjoying your beautiful weather. You are in for a shock when you get back home.
You see, Amselm already forgets what summer feels like!
Try hard Anselm, try real hard. Close your eyes and picture it, from a long time ago!

I looked at this earlier, but assumed it wouldn't possibly be at any time when I'd be in Ontario. But if it were in the summer I might be seriously tempted, since I am sometimes in Toronto in July or August (I'm usually the one fanning herself and sweating!)
Now, would I have the courage to encounter all these hip urbanites in the flesh?
Can I show up and deny all knowledge of my screen name?
Do people remember all the foolish remarks and typos everyone else ever made?
But it would be fascinating to see the people who've been everywhere...and ask them where to go next.

Oh nfld, it would be really wonderful if you could make it.
I know exactly what you mean about having the courage to show up!!!
But believe me, everyone is down to earth and human!
Our 2007 GTG was more of a success than I hoped for.
Everyone was wonderful, and conversation flowed like we were all old friends.
I think I can speak for everyone in saying that we all had a really great time.
Please do try and come.

Hey, Nfldbeothuk: who do you think you are calling a 'hip urbanite'? Like most other current Torontonians, I am from somewhere else and it my case its NL. (Seriously, I really hope you can fit it in: our first meeting was great fun).

All this weather talk, Kodi - well, its been raining in my neck of the woods and I've been Singin' In It !
I'm not sure what my July and August weekends are like just yet but I should be around. If the date is set early enough, I can plan around that. Count me in, and I'm happy to help you with organising it.

Well, I really appreciated the friendly words.
Now I definitely hope this happens in July/August so I can plan to be in TO then. I have friends/ relatives there (it's a requirement--any Newfoundlander without a relative in Toronto must adopt one) and a weakness for Shakespeare in Stratford.
So I'll watch hopefully for news of when and where.

I just burst out laughing.
nfldbeothuk, I really hope you can make it. Looking forward to meeting you.
And all this is making me think: I wonder whether we could persuade our compatriot laverendrye to attend???

Hi Kodi:
Wonderful! This time my husband Ron and I hope so much to be able to make the GTG.
We are in China for the month of March early April but other than that we will try our best to make it in to the city from Niagara.
regards,
Lynn
