Salt Spring Island..........

I'm planning to fly direct to Seattle arriving around 11AM. I want to take Kenmore Air's float plane from Lake Union to Salt Spring Island leaving SEA around 2PM. Do you think the summer months are good times to visit Salt Spring Island. Have you taken the float plane over before. Thanks.

Summer is the most popular time to visit Salt Spring. Of course it's a good time to visit - it's a beautiful spot! But it's also the busiest in summer. Will you be visiting on a weekend? Where do you plan to stay?

I haven't taken the sea plane there, as we like to have a car on Salt Spring... hopefully someone else has!

I have always wanted to visit The Hastings House on the weekend and go to the local market on Saturday. I'm thinking about going in late May before school is out.

Where did you stay on your visits and did you take the ferry. What ferry did you use and how long does it take. Thanks.

I live in Vancouver. I take a BC ferry to Sydney on Vancouver Island (90 minutes' or so sailing time) and then another ferry back to Salt Spring (another half hour or so) - the times don't consider wait times.
I have always stayed with friends, or in a cabin/house rental, or have just gone for the day. So I can't really advise as to accomodation.
The market's pretty good.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Whoops pushed the wrong button - as I was saying the ferry is listed as Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay where you would get the ferry to Saltspring. Sidney has a ferry that comes from Anacortes which is several miles from Swartz Bay.
