My husband and I plan on visting Quebec City in june. WE plan on staying in Drummond the night before our arrival in Quebec. Do you have any recommendations for not too expensive hotels in both locationS and also because it's our first visit to the area what would you consider a must see stop? We're also interested in a nice French restaurant that's not too expensive.

Yes, it is Drummondville because we needed a place to stop so we didn't have to travel the whole distance in a day. We're coming from southeastern connecticut. Is it that bad? Do you have any other suggestions?

From what I've heard, nothing wrong with Drummondville, I think people find it curious though because you're only 1 1/2 hours from Quebec City and the town has a reputation (perhaps wrongly, I've never been) of being a bit of a dull place.

I assume that you will be travelling north on I91 and then route 55. If you want to break your trip, there are lots better places to do so than Drummondville. North Hatley is a lovely town not far off the Autoroute. The Auberge Hatley there might be a bit expensive for your budget, but there will be other less expensive accommodation. You might also look at Magog for an overnight stay.

Drummondville is about the most boring place you can stop. Good if you get there late and leave early. The old village might be interesting (never visited myself):

Auberge Hatley is very cheap now, but you need to bring a tent because the auberge burned down. Staying in Magog or about is a good choice.

A stop in Magog is an excellent idea. Many accommodations to choose from (http://www.tourisme-cantons.qc.ca/AT...s/hebergement/
- under "municipalities" choose "Magog", then "Search&quot Magog has all you need for restaurants as well. From Magog you can drive around lake Massawipi (Ayer's Cliff, North Hatley). In North Hatley we like the Pilsen Pub, right by the water.

I hadn't heard about the fire at the Auberge Hatley. That's a pity.

At any rate, there are lots of other places to stay in North Hatley and the surrounding area.

I guess drummondville is not a good stopover...that's why I'm doing my research now. We haven't picked a hotel yet for Quebec City, but will take any suggestions on that. We will look at our maps and see if there are any other cities or towns to stop over for a nice dinner and rest before heading to Quebec City. Would love to hear more recommendations.

Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Du Vieux Quebec? It's on Rue Saint Jean. It looks great online, but would like first hand info. Also, do you know the % of tax that is added to a room rate. We were quoted by on online hotel search of usd$107 for the room and $79 for tax. That seems a bit high. Is that the norm?

You asked for must-see attractions. You need to tell us just what you are interested in...museums, churches,etc. and how long you are planning on staying.

we have decided to stay at the hotel du voir Quebec on rue saint jean. We are going to have 2 full days in quebec. We would like to do one day in the old city on a walking tour or to see some of the "must see" sights. And the other day we would like to spend at a nearby national park. Considering our time factor, we want to see as much as possible without missing the highlights of the city. We would also like restaurant recommendations in the area that we are staying in. We will be having dinner 3 nights in Quebec. Thanks for any help.
