Public Transportation

I would like to catch a bus from Sainte Foy to Quebec City while I'm visiting. Does anyone know which bus I would take? Thank you

Sainte Foy and Quebec City are served by the same city bus system. However, in order to answer your question, you need to post where (street address) you will be in Ste Foy and where you want to go to in Quebec City. Knowing that will help someone advise you on the bus route you need to take.

I am staying in a B&B on Rue Lapointe in Sainte Foy and I would like to get to the Chateau Frontenac by bus. I would also like to get to the ferry area - rue du Champlain, I believe?

I'm sure that the people at the B&B where you are staying will be able to give you detailed information on how to get downtown by bus and return to St. Foy. Don't worry about it.

I was hoping someone from Quebec city might answer your question. I lived in Sainte Foy twenty five years ago and used the bus system extensively. From Mapquest I've determined where I THINK your bed/breakfast is...it appears to be a block from Rue Laurier..which is a VERY main street. From the transit website (in French) I think you would take bus #11 downtown. Depending on the time of day, Bus 11 might take you right to near Chateau Frontenac OR you might have to transfer to bus #20 which will defintiely take you very close to Chateau Frontenac. The transfer point is at Place Youville...it is not difficult to make the transfer. While visiting Chateau Frontenac, be sure and investigate all the rest of the area of Old Quebec City. It is a quaint walled city full of shops, artists, restaurants and neat things to see. Well worth spending time looking around there. Don't worry about the bus. People will be sure to help you. Learn a few greetings such as Bonjour (hello) Merci (Thank you) and perhaps a couple of simple phrases. Use these and people will acknowledge that you are trying to use French and likely switch to English with no problem. Hope you have a wonderful time in Quebec. (By the way, when on the bus you won't be able to tell when you leave St. Foy and when you enter Quebec City....it's all one big metro area!)
