DAYS END OR COAST HOTEL

I'm trying to decide between 2 hotels for a 3 nite stay in Vancouver BC.

I want some place central to things, w/ cafes and shops near by that are open. I've been told that the area around the Days End on Pender can close up after 5 or 6 as it's a biz area. Where as the area around the Coast Hotel has many shops, cafes, etc that are open more hours.... however this hotel is a bit off the beaten track.

I am traveling alone but will have pals w/ a car who will give me a bit of a siteseeing tour.

I have eliminated about 8 hotels...but am absolutely frazzled trying to decide between these 2 hotels.

Any opinions or advice?? Thanks!!!

Relax and don't worry!

Neither is a bad choice as downtown Vancouver is a small walkable place.

I knew you meant Days Inn-I took the bus by there earlier in the week and was thinking it would be a quiet place to sleep since the street in front is relatively quiet @ night.

Both are quiet. Both are good options and you could walk between the two in 20-30 minutes. The Days Inn is in the midst of a business area so it'll be immediately dull, but you could walk 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes to more interesting areas. The Coast Plaza (assuming this is what you're talking about) is in a more interesting area, in my opinion. It definitely feels like you're in a urban neighbourhood that caters to locals.

I would recommend the Coast Plaza. Even though the hotel is old and tired, the location is superb, within minutes of the beautiful English Bay and lots of cafes and restaurants. We have stayed at the Coast Plaza a couple of times, both times booking through Hotwire, and were very satisfied with our accommodations.
