Montreal Weather Forecast....

It is in the 50's in NYC and I am thinking that it will be cold in Montreal, but not that bad. Then I looked at the forecast online! Snow ???
My question is, if I get snowed in , will they let me stay till spring?
No , not really, my questions are
1- is the online forecast the same as the one you hear in Montreal? A snow filled weekend?
2- should I bring my warmest down jacket or will wool be enough? I hate to walk around looking like Nanook of the North
3- where can I go shopping for coats, I would like to get a nice warm shearling.
Thank you and see you soon!

When I travel where I may need a coat, I always take my all weather coat with the lining and other clothing I can layer if necessary. This way I only need to travel with one coat that will almost always be appropriate.

Thank you so much "cold" & Dee! I read on a 'Visit Montreal' page, online that the forecast was for snow. Living in NY,snow is not unusual for us, but I want to just take one coat. After the responses I got last night ( I figured I'll take my heavy wool winter coat, scarves, gloves etc.
I will just enjoy shopping there if I need something.
I have been told how friendly & nice the people are in Montreal so I think that the other posters are not from Montreal.
