Montreal in August...HELP!
My husband and I are traveling to montreal for our 10 year anniversary August 25th-August 30th 2005. I want to stay somewhere fabulous and romantic. I would also like to know some "must see/do". Any input would be great!! Thank you.

I guess you would have to define romantic;
smaller boutique hotels in old montreal would be more on the romantic side, there's a few of them, the Nelligan has a great bar and restaurant and a nice corner location.
Fabulous and well located for me would be the sofitel, le germain, the vogue.
The Ritz is getting tired, I've heard..... it still has a fabulous location and lobby.....
There's the W hotel , opened last fall, which would be contemporary and close to both center and old montreal- the street it's on is nothing though.....
The Queen Elizabeth is a big convention hotel, imo.......
I might be wrong, but I don't think we have a four seasons......

The St Sulpice

The Lowes Hotel Vogue *my favorite*

The Four Seasons became a Westin Hotel which became the Omni. I believe it was a Four Seasons in the '90s.
While it is a very nice hotel, it is not what I would call "fabulous" or especially "romantic".
But I would recommend eating at Zen, which can be termed "fabulous".

Oh, zootsi made a great suggestion...that book he mentioned is great.
Montreal is a very romantic town so you won't have any problems.
Wonderful restaurants and jazz clubs. Just strolling around the Old Town is romantic too. And the parks.
I read on tripadvisor.com about a hotel called Le Petit Prince (maybe more of a bed and breakfast), which has lovely rooms with your own jacuzzi in the room! Now THAT sounds romantic to me. (I hate chain hotels or fussy, grand hotels.)
Enjoy!
