Harrison Hot Springs - has anyone stayed there recently?

Up until a couple of years ago, we had been going to Harrison for a week-long stay each year, for a few years. We look back to those stays -- usually lodging at the Harrison Hot Springs Resort , and usually in late-June and/or early-mid-September -- with many fond memories. The natural beauty (mountains, lake, and etc.), our daily walks (on many trails, and throughout the village), all those wonderful, soothing hot spring water soaks, the dining out (at the several good, small restaurants there, and especially the great little pizza place!), and etc.

I just found out yesterday, that the "Sand Sculpture Exhibition and Championship" is no longer held there. Wow, that news sure came as a total surprise to me, it used to be a major event for little Harrison come September each year.

Has anyone stayed at Harrison more recently - we would love to hear how the village is doing, and about any changes (in the hotels, restaurants, and etc.) we may have missed since our last visit. Have there been any major changes to the Harrison Hot Springs Resort?

Thanks!!
John

We are hoping (to be able) to book a 2-night "getaway stay" at the Resort later this month. It's been a while since we did a stay there, so anything + or - would be much appreciated.

We'll be travelling as a threesome, so seeking a room with two queen beds. We've done West and East Tower lake view rooms -- but for this stay, thought we might enjoy a West Tower pool view room (the balconies should get some sun, if there's any?!).

Any comments would be most helpful to the cause!! Thanks!!

Wow, sorry to hear about the Sand Sculpture competition! My family live in Chilliwack and whenever I've been home at that time of year, I looked forward to going to Harrison to see the sculptures. I wonder what happened.

Heard it was the cost -- apparently, they just could not make of a go of it any longer. We were there for what turned out to be the last year it was held, and did hear some rumours back then that it was "tight" money-wise, but never figured it would end.
It is a shame though - it was quite a September-early-October event/highlight of the area for many.

Has anyone visited Harrison Springs recently? I am considering going there for a long weekend in August. Would you recommend it for a family of 3 (preschooler in tow)? Is there enough to do? would you recommend other British columbia hot springs?
