Montreal residents, we're looking at a hotel called Les Bons Matins and wondering if it's in a good location (family of 4..want to be able to walk places). Here's how they describe their location:
"Quietly tucked away within the hotel district, Les Bons Matins B&B is just seconds away from the Bell Centre; two blocks down from bustling Sainte-Catherine street, Montréal?s premiere shopping drive; and only steps away from lively Crescent Street, one of the city?s hottest hot spots, where trendy restaurants, cafés and night clubs abound. You could hardly ask for a better location."

Is this true that we could hardly ask for a better location? :}

It's a good location, just a few blocks from the downtown shopping area with all its skyscrapers, department stores, underground malls and the Molson Center. Crescent Street is a fun place for cafes and clubs (kind of a mini St. Denis area). This location is on the more western side of downtown (more Anglo), so it's a little further from the old city, and the St. Denis area. However, you can hop a Metro to explore other parts of the city.

Thanks for the help! It's so hard (or maybe I'm just making it hard) to decide where to stay...our alternative is a B&B facing Lafontaine Park ...more out the way but perhaps more peaceful...

A b&b facing LaFontaine park would be my choice. A quiet, upscale area, but a short walk to some of the most fun parts of the city - St. Denis, Prince Arthur St, Duluth St, Sq. St Louis, etc. This area is about a 25 minute walk to the downtown, or a few stops on the Metro. In all honesty, both locations would be fine - it depends on whether you want to be close to the Manhattan feeling downtown area, or the more French feeling St. Denis plateau area.

I've researched probably every small inn in Montreal (I'm a bit obsessive... and this feels like one of the best....beautiful neighborhood, quiet, walkable to everything...and good reviews from Fodors.
