banff - restaurants

can anyone recommend good restaurants in banff or lake louise. travelling with two 16 year olds so nothing too fancy - quality food for the price. (i've eaten some bad food in some of these resort towns!) thanks.

Try Earl's at 299 Banff Ave. It is a popular place and good for families.

Hi,
Try the "Old Spagetthi Factory" and another name "Wild Bill".
Both are very good food and prices and both are located on the main street, very easy to find.
Enjoy !
""Here's a brief report on what could have -- SHOULD have been -- a lovely meal. Seeing Rose & Crowne Pub in Banff brought great memories of London, so we eagerly tried it.

Sadly, we happened to come in after a group maybe 20 people? You would have thought the entire province had arrived. The staff was NOT prepared, acted like it was a major inconvenience that ANY of us were there. Those of us who were in groups of 2-6 people PAID the price.

We overheard, and were also told by the wait staff that our food would be delayed. HA! Little did we know! And before we even asked, they said with a snicker that there was nothing they could do about it. Not even a half-hearted apology of any kind. But MAJOR attitude.

And did we wait? Yes, did we EVER wait. Over an hour. Several other tables of diners left after 45 minutes of the wait staff's rude aloofness.

The food wasn't disappointing -same fish and chips as in London. The service and attitude was horrific. Considering the vast array of competition in Banff, one would think they'd be a bit more gracious to thier guests.

The manager happened to be working as one of the waiters, so he was no help. He was probably the most aloof of all. Had anyone said they were under-staffed that day, due to ANY reason, to ask for our understanding, it would have made a HUGE difference. But they did not.

I believe in giving credit where credit is due. But this also needs to be told as unlike ANY other dining experience I've experienced around the globe.

Banff itself, is a lovely little mountain town. Enjoy it, but stay away from Rose and Crowne.""
Best value in my opinion is Guido's (above MacDonald's) and Melissa's

Stuart (I live here)
