Banff - Brewster's Mtn Lodge or Buffalo Mtn?

Seen several postings here from earlier this year w/zero responses: they were inquiring if anyone had stayed at Brewster's Mountain Lodge in Banff before - a 'fairly' new place.

Now that summer is almost over, wondering if someone may have stayed there by now, who could offer a review?

We *had* thought of staying at Buffalo Mtn, but the room I heard was 'special' there is too expensive on the date we just now switched to, for Banff. Brewster's doesn't have any standard rooms left...and their special big suites are too expensive again. But, they *do* have something called a Jr. King Suite for about $80Cdn less than the Buffalo Mtn Premier Room.

Look forward to any reviews/comparisons. Thanks!

We stayed at the Brewster a few years ago and it was only about 1 block from town and within walking distance of Banff Springs Lodge if your if good shape. The hotel was clean and seemed brand new at the time. We stayed in the standard room so we dont know about the Jr King Suite. We think you will like the place. We did.

buffalo is in a nice location - a short walk/drive to town but not in the hecticness of the town and there is a little store & liquor store close by. another one right by there is douglas fur resort. ask about a room facing away from the street.

If "X" sees this, could you share whether you've stayed in the standard rooms at Buffalo Mtn? (called "deluxe" rooms) Were you content w/this type?

Have read from prior posts, that the "Premier" rooms are wonderful, but the regular ones perhaps not worth the money. However, these were older postings. Hence, my interest in reading any *new/recent* experiences at Buffalo Mtn. that some of you might share.

Also, was wondering if there are any nice trails from near this lodge. The Hoodoo's Trail?

Now the prices between Brewster's & Buffalo Mtn have become pretty equal (since my 1st posting). Looking at 'standard' rooms for both now. The Buffalo Mtn ones are $18 Usd ($30 Cdn) more, but *do* include a fireplace. Not sure though if they look more 'tired' than the ones at Brewster's (which is quite new)?

Still would enjoy reading *additional* reviews of these two places in Banff. Thanks again!
Just got back from a wonderful trip to Canadian Rockies. We spent one night at the Buffalo MOuntain Inn in a standard/e.g.deluxe room. We were very happy with it. Fireplace was wonderful and everything about it was fine. By the way, their dining room serves an excellent breakfast. We would go back again without any hesitation. Enjoy.

buffalo is in a great location - up above the town so not as congested. there is a convenience store and liquor store close by. great trails up to the hoodoos or down to town.
