Where you stay probably depends on whether you have a car. If you don't (and in my view you can see much of Vancouver without a car) then it's handy to stay in the West End. It's a largely residential district, with quiet tree-lined streets and a few busier roads with many shops and restaurants. You'll be in easy walking distance of downtown, Stanley Park, the Sea Wall, the cruise ship terminal...you name it.
I have lived in the West End for many years. There happens to be a B&B across the street from us:

Needless to say I've never stayed there, but from the outside it looks charming. (The street is beautiful, quiet, and leafy.)
One block north of us is another B&B which also looks very attractive from the outside.

Hope this helps. There are quite a few hotels in the West End as well, but your post specifically asked about B&Bs.

thanks vorkuta for the info, we will be renting a car, and the west end sounds nice.
i checked out those two B&Bs, and they look great but are a bit over a price range, we thought of about, $130 or so canadian dollars. we are still looking thanks

Lori, I agree with Vorkuta that the West End is a great, convenient place to stay.
Instead of B&B's, what about a self-catering apartment, such as:
Rosellen Suites-www.rosellensuites.com
Coast Plaza Suite Hotel - www.coasthotels.com/
home/sites/vancouvercoastplaza .
Sunset Inn & Suites-www.sunsetinn.com Meridian at 910 Beach www.meridianhotel.org
Cheers,
Linda

Another self-catering apartment to add to Bowen Linda's list:

It's also in Vancouver's West End. I've never been inside but it looks very pleasant from the outside. I see their rates start at $140 per night in the summer.

Barclay House and West End Guest House are both great! I've stayed at both. YOu can check out bed and breakfasts in Vancouver by going onto the Western Canada Bed and Breakfast Innkeepers Association web site.

There is a great range of accommodations and prices.

Hi ginocat,
Thanks for your message. As I mentioned, we live across the street from the Barclay B&B and one block from the West End guest house. I've often wondered what they're like inside since they both look so attractive from the outside. Now I feel confident about recommending them to out of town visitors (our apartment is very small and unfortunately we can't accommodate more than one guest at a time).
