Accomodations in Saskatoon..recommendations?

Hello Fodor's Forum Folks!

My husband and I would like to travel to Saskatoon at the end of June for the opening of Joni Mitchell's VOICES Gallery Show at the Mendel Museum, does anyone have any suggestions for a good hotel to stay at?
(P.S will probably go out and buy Fodor's Canada anyhow...wouldn't think of leaving home without it!

Thank you-
Ronda Snyder

Ronda, its been a few years since I have been in Saskatoon, but I think you would have to want to stay in the Delta Bessborough, classic old railroad hotel, right on the bank of the South Saskatchewan River - try to get a room facing the gardens and river. The Saskatoon Jazz Festival is on at the end of June as well.

Ron

Ronda,
The Bessborough would definately be your best bet. It is a wonderful old hotel, which has recently been refurbished without losing any of its charm. You can walk along the river to the Mendel Gallery in about 5 - 10 minutes. It's central to downtown as well. If you stay there, be sure to have dinner at the Japanese Steakhouse in the lobby - it's amazing!

I would also have to say the Delta Bessborough since I work for the chain at corporate office. It is a really nice hotel. I have been there last summer. It is the place to stay in Saskatoon!!

My wife and I stayed at the Delta Bessborough last October for 3 nights and found the staff to helpful and the location to be great. The room that we stayed in was extremely plain and lacking any of the character that surrounds you in the lobby and common areas. Make sure to walk Broadway Aveneue just across the river, it have some interesting stores and cafes.
