Transport from Sydney airport to hotel

Will be arriving on very early morning flight from LA. Should we arrange for car service, or will taxi service be adequate? Any recommendations for good car services? What would be approximte cost? What would be the approximate cost of taxi fare from the airport to Circular Quay? Thanks

There's often a long queue for taxis in the early morning--because of the curfew there's a lot of flights coming in at around 6-7 AM. That said you could be lucky, taxi fare I think would be around $30-35. There's also a train and a shuttle.

If there's more than one travelling, just get a taxi.
By the time you mess about with trains, changing, lugging etc., it will be SO much easier ... and probably cost about the same or less.

Is it possible to get a taxi from the airport that would accommodate 7?

Yes, you need a Maxi Taxi. Ask one of the Taxi Supervisors to call one for you.

Note - the fares on the Airport website are RETURN (why they would quote that when 99% of fares are one-way, is one of life's imponderables, I guess)

I have caught a taxi early in the morning from the International half a dozen times in the last 6 months and not had to wait longer than 5 minutes - domestic is another story!

Bokhara - thanks for the info on the Maxi Taxi. I couldn't see a price on the Maxi Taxi, maybe I just overlooked it - do you know what the cost would be verses a shuttle to the Rocks? Thanks!

No Barbara, I don't - sorry. I don't do shuttles ... too much messing about at the end of a long haul for my taste. I just checked and a Maxi Taxi will be about $55.

So, unless your hotel provides complimentary shuttle service, I doubt very much you'd be paying less than $8 per person on a shuttle/bus/train.
