I would take a taxi, the train will be at least $15 per person and you would still have to walk from Circular Quay.

The taxi is probably around $35-40 although I've never done the trip myself

Geordie's right - with two of you and baggage, a taxi is your best bet.

Take a taxi, it's about $40-$45; the taxis have to pay some airport fee which jacks up the price slightly coming from the airport.

(Note that the plotted route is from the international terminal, on the west side of the airport, rather than the domestic terminal on the east side, so may be slightly cheaper).

As noted, the airport train is $15 each, so not that much cheaper than a cab and you still have to get from the Circular Quay station to wherever you are staying. It's probably not that far but still a hassle, depending on how much luggage you have, where you're staying etc.
